Creating books and reading them together is a huge motivation to help beginning and early readers get excited about reading. It is also a great way to share stories about your ancestors, or create stories about your life to share with your posterity. Creating books helps children develop creativity and communications skills. Take pictures of things the child likes or pictures of the child's experiences, or use pictures already saved to your device. Size and position the pictures on a page, use pictures as backgrounds, add words, and change colors and borders. When you're happy with your book, upload it to the web and share a link via email, Facebook, Google+, or other social media apps you have installed. (Sharing and hosting subscription required). Our kids learned to read by starting out with some common simple words that they "read" each time we got to them. Gradually we would have them read more and more words. You can even read the books together when you're far apart! Go to the shared book, click Read Together, and either person can turn a page or highlight a word as if you were sitting next to each other. This works great with Skype or a phone call. Using Read with Me Kids, Grandparents, parents who don't live nearby, or other friends and mentors can help the child develop a love for reading and improve reading skills.
